In 2013 we formed the Scrap Trident Coalition in Scotland. Our first activity was to organise a week-end of events in April; a large demo in George Square in Glasgow on Saturday April 13th, workshops and training the next day and a blockade at the Faslane Trident submarine base on Monday April 15th.
During the Independence Referendum in 2014 we worked to keep Trident high on the agenda and following the result held a demonstration at Faslane on Nov 28th.
In 2015 we again organised a huge Glasgow demo on April 4th followed by a blockade of Faslane on April 15th.
Skillshare days in October and November 2015 brought people together to hone their anti-Trident campaigning skills and generate new ideas.
Love The Planet was the Valentines Day theme for a Day of Action in February 2016 and many activities took place.
Then a great Scottish contingent headed for London to take part in the big CND Stop Trident demonstration on Feb 27th. See photos here
On the July 16th 2016, the Saturday before Westminster voted in another generation of nuclear submarines the Scrap Trident Coalition called for demonstrations across Scotland. People gathered in 37 locations to say Trident No More. Full report here
